Dec 25, 2013 · I haven't checked the default time out for tracert and pathing, you can try add some parameters to see if they make a difference) (I find some hops may not reply to ICMP ECHO(regular ping), but they do reply ICMP TTL Expired so you can see it in traceroute ) Many routers on the Internet. either are configured to not send ICMP message, those routers won't answer to ping. either silently drop a TTL expired packet (but may respond to ping) In both case, tracert doesn't receive any answer and display "Request time out". share. I run tracert and it gives me timed out request. I run ipconfig /flushdns, then netsh int ip reset, it gives me the following; resetting interface, ok, resetting neighbor, ok, resetting path, ok, resetting, failed, access is denied. The first step to troubleshooting the 'Request Timed Out' error message is to ping the localhost and check whether you are getting a proper reply from it. Open command prompt and type ping 127.0.0.1. Press the enter key. If you receive a proper reply from the localhost IP (127.0.0.1), the network adapter is fine.
