I have tried using this new router downstairs where the original one is, and then connect to it wirelessly and this worked fine. The internet access was established. I just cannot seem to be able to have two routers in the same house.

At present the the virgin connection comes into the front of my house (living room) where my router is based. This is close to our neighbour's wall (i.e. at one end of the house).
